Interviews
Building on Canton
In a June 2026 interview on the After the Close podcast, Kim discussed his background in blockchain, the development of Canton, and the broader shift toward institutional adoption of tokenized assets. Kim reflected on his unconventional path into crypto, including his early career experiences in fitness, modeling, teaching, and consulting before becoming involved in blockchain projects such as Polymath and institutional tokenization initiatives. He discussed the evolution of blockchain infrastructure, noting that while many crypto projects struggled to achieve sustainable adoption, institutional-focused networks built around real-world demand and enterprise use cases had continued to develop. Kim highlighted Canton’s growth as a result of Digital Asset’s long-term work with financial institutions, emphasizing its focus on tokenizing large-scale financial assets and supporting institutional workflows. He also shared his view that future blockchain adoption would be driven by practical applications, sustainable business models, and tokenized asset issuance rather than speculative narratives. [5]
App Composability
In an April 2026 interview with AltCoinDesk, Kim discussed the development of Zenith, Canton’s ecosystem, and the future of interoperable blockchain infrastructure. Kim explained that Zenith was designed as an EVM
- and SVM-compatible layer on Canton, allowing Ethereum and Solana applications to deploy with atomic composability across networks. He described the team’s shift from an initial focus on zero-knowledge proofs toward building practical infrastructure that simplifies cross-chain application migration and supports institutional-grade blockchain adoption. Kim highlighted Zenith’s flexible permission models, which allow institutions to choose between public permissionless, public permissioned, and private environments depending on their requirements. He also discussed the potential for connecting established DeFi ecosystems with Canton while enabling purpose-built institutional applications, arguing that public blockchains and permissioned networks would continue to coexist and evolve together as different markets and users adopt blockchain technology.
