Sam Ewen is an American media executive, podcast host, and Web3 advisor who serves as the Head of Media Innovation, Multimedia & Social at the cryptocurrency-focused media outlet CoinDesk. His career has focused on the intersection of technology, innovation, and user behavior, with previous experience at The New York Times. [1] [2]
Sam Ewen studied literature at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and English from Hunter College in 1991. In 2020, he completed additional professional studies at BrainStation. [3]
Sam Ewen has held senior and executive roles across media, marketing, technology, and experiential innovation, working with a wide range of companies over several decades. Since 2021, he has been at CoinDesk, where he has served as Head of CoinDesk Studios, Senior Vice President and Head of Media Innovation & Experience, and Head of Social Media and Multimedia, overseeing video, audio, podcast, newsletter, and social media strategy. He is also a member of the Sunday Dinner Community, a professional network for marketing leaders.
Previously, Ewen was Managing Director at dotdotdash, Inc. (later acquired by TBWA) and held senior business development roles at The New York Times through its Fake Love unit, including Senior Vice President of Business Development and Director of New Business Development. He also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Hunter College, teaching media, public relations, and advertising.
