Ian Fong

Ian Fong is a Singapore-based business executive and content strategist with experience across media, marketing, fintech, and digital asset industries. He currently serves as Vice President of Content Asia at Money20/20 and has held leadership roles in communications, business development, and partnerships throughout his career. [1]

Education

Fong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor in Life Science in 1991, a Bachelor in Zoology in 1992, and a Master in Biomedical Sciences in 1996. He will earn his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Teesside University in 2027. [3]

Career

Fong began his career in advertising as an Assistant Manager at Henen Advertising in 1992, working in copywriting and account management. He later joined Bizarts - PICO Singapore in 1996 as an Account and Associate Creative Director, where he managed creative projects, client relationships, and large-scale brand activation initiatives. In 1997, he became Commercial and Business Development Director at Panpac Media.Com Ltd, overseeing publishing operations, business development, and strategic initiatives, including the company’s expansion of media titles and digital content platforms.

In 1999, Fong became Publisher and Managing Director of East Lifestyle Corporation and Gnomadic Publishing, where he managed publishing operations, financial performance, international expansion, and media partnerships. In 2003, he founded Sense Asian, a communications company that later became Sirius Art after its acquisition in 2007. He served as General Manager and Communications Director at Sense Asian, and later as CEO and Director of Communications and Digital Marketing at Sirius Art, leading marketing, public relations, digital campaigns, and corporate communications.

In 2016, Fong joined BOUNCE Singapore as Managing Director and Marketing Director, overseeing business operations, marketing strategy, and the launch of the company’s Singapore location. Later that year, he became Director of Marketing and Communications at SingEx and the Singapore FinTech Festival, where he managed marketing and communications efforts for large-scale business events and fintech industry initiatives until 2019.

From 2020 to 2022, Fong worked at Propine, a digital asset custody company, first as Director of Marketing and Partnerships and later as Senior Director of Marketing and Partnerships. He was responsible for brand strategy, communications, partnerships, and market positioning within the financial technology sector. In 2022, he joined Money20/20 as Content Director, Asia, before becoming Vice President of Content Asia in 2025, where he oversees content development and programming for the organization’s Asia-focused events. In 2026, he became a co-author of The New Intersection of Money: Where TradFi and DeFi Converge, contributing an Asia-focused perspective on digital assets and payment infrastructure. [4]
