Hugo Philion
Hugo Philion, a London native, serves as the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flare Network, an EVM-based layer 1 blockchain with a focus on facilitating secure interoperability between various blockchains. Prior to his involvement with Flare, Hugo's professional background centered on managing portfolios as a derivatives trader for prominent funds. His journey into blockchain technology began during his studies in Machine Learning at University College London, where he crossed paths with Flare's Co-Founders, Sean Rowan and Nairi Usher.[1]
Education
His education includes a Master of Science (MS) in Machine Learning from University College London (UCL), where he studied from 2017 to 2018. He also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Investment & Financial Risk Management from Cass Business School, where he completed his studies with First Class Honours in 2010.[2]
Career
Hugo Philion has a background in finance, particularly in the field of options trading. Throughout his career, he has worked for various financial firms, with a primary focus on the commodities sector. His initial exposure to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can be traced back to interactions with professionals affiliated with Goldman Sachs. At present, his cryptocurrency holdings consist of Bitcoin, XRP, Ethereum, and Songbird tokens.[3]
