Le Thanh is a Vietnamese engineer and entrepreneur, best known as the co-founder of Coin98, a decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. He has a background in software development, hardware manufacturing, and e-commerce, which he leveraged to enter the cryptocurrency industry.

Career

Thanh began his entrepreneurial career while still a university student. In his third year, he and his friends founded an outsourcing company that provided technology services to international clients. The firm specialized in hardware, firmware, and software development for tech companies based in Europe and Australia, with a focus on creating wearable products such as smartwatches. This venture involved establishing partnerships with manufacturers in China to produce the hardware components. ^[1]

Founding of Coin98

Le Thanh's work on Coin98 started in 2017 with the launch of a YouTube channel dedicated to crypto education. For ten months, he used the platform to share his research and analysis of the emerging blockchain space, building a community that provided feedback on his work. In June 2018, during a significant market downturn, he decided to establish Coin98 as a formal company. His research into numerous whitepapers and industry reports had convinced him of the long-term potential of blockchain technology, irrespective of market volatility. ^[1]

The company's name was inspired by the number of the small apartment in Ho Chi Minh City picture below (2017) that served as its first office. Thanh has stated that the number "98" is a reminder of the company's origins and the "zero to one" challenge of building a startup. Initially, Coin98 focused on publishing research and analysis, becoming a prominent knowledge hub in Vietnam. As the company grew, it expanded its scope. ^[1]

In 2019, Thanh identified a critical need for multi-chain infrastructure to support the growing number of blockchains. In response, the team began developing its own products, starting with a multi-chain wallet.
