He then joined Blackboard Mobile, where he served as Lead iOS Engineer from 2009 to 2011 before becoming Senior Engineering Manager in 2012, overseeing iOS development and product architecture.
Yu later co-founded the mobile payments startup Evenly, which was acquired by Square in 2013. Following the acquisition, Yu worked at Square as a Software Engineer from 2013 to 2015, developing distributed systems and syncing protocols for the company's Register app. He then joined DoorDash as an early engineer, serving as a Staff Engineer and Engineering Manager from 2015 to 2018, where he led engineering teams and product initiatives.
