Sergio Mello is a technology executive, entrepreneur, and operator with a career focused on building and scaling enterprises in sectors such as travel, media, payments, and digital assets. He has held senior leadership positions at companies including Visa, PayPal, and Amadeus. Sergio Mello completed his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Politecnico di Torino between 2000 and 2005. He later pursued specialized and executive training programs focused on economics, management, and regional studies, including coursework at the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris in 2006, the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London from 2006 to 2007 for Korean language studies, and executive programs at Yonsei University and SDA Bocconi in 2007, both centered on economics and management in Korea. Sergio Mello has held leadership, advisory, and executive roles across technology, payments, travel, and digital asset sectors. Since September 2024, he has served as Head of Stablecoins at Anchorage Digital, focusing on stablecoin strategy and related infrastructure. He previously founded and led Lago Finance from 2022 to 2023, where he worked on developing a consortium for stablecoin and digital payment infrastructure.
Mello has also acted as an advising partner at Chameleon from 2015 to 2023, providing strategic, technical, and business development guidance to B2B startups and enterprises in retail, travel, and technology. Earlier, he was chief executive officer of Tangem from 2019 to 2020, overseeing product development and partnerships in payments, identity, and secure hardware.
His experience includes advisory roles with Nodle and Reddit, where he contributed to early-stage strategy and crypto-related initiatives, as well as serving as Program Director at Firetree Asia Foundation in 2017, managing its technology research and development activities. Earlier in his career, Mello co-founded and led SATISFLY Ltd., a travel technology company later acquired by Travelstart, and co-founded WeBRainstorm S.r.l., which was successfully exited.
