Veronica Hash is an American program manager who leads initiatives in Belonging, Inclusion, and Diversity (BID) at the cryptocurrency platform Coinbase. She is noted for her career path within the company, transitioning from an executive assistant to a management role focused on corporate culture and employee experience. [1] [2]
Hash attended California State University-Sacramento from 2002 to 2004, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance. [1]
Hash began her career in 2005 as an Office Manager and Lead Teacher at Happy Feet-Specialty Classes for Children, a role she held until 2011. She then moved into administrative positions at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society at the University of California, Berkeley, first as an Administrative Assistant and later as an Administrative Officer. Following her time at UC Berkeley, Hash held a series of senior executive assistant roles supporting high-level executives at several technology companies. She was a Senior Executive Assistant at Amyris from 2015 to 2017, at Close Concerns from 2017 to 2018, and at Pandora Media from 2018 to 2019, which served as a basis for later work with blockchain technology.
In October 2019, Hash joined Coinbase as an executive assistant. She had been laid off from her previous job while six months pregnant, an event she later described as a "blessing in disguise" that allowed her to spend time with her newborn daughter and reassess her career priorities. She was drawn to Coinbase due to her personal success with cryptocurrency investments.
After approximately one year as an executive assistant, Hash began pursuing an internal career change. She credits her more than ten years of experience as an EA with providing her with essential skills in organization, project management, and interpersonal communication. To facilitate the transition, she discussed her aspirations with her manager, actively networked with colleagues through informal coffee chats, and participated in Coinbase's Growth, Empowerment and Mentorship (GEM) program. Through the GEM program, a mentor suggested she pursue the program manager role in the Belonging, Inclusion and Diversity (BID) department, aligning with her passions. In January 2021, she officially moved into the position of Program Manager for BID.
As the Program Manager for BID, Hash's stated goal is to ensure Coinbase is a workplace where employees from all backgrounds can thrive. Her responsibilities involve partnering with the company's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), People team, and Marketing & Communications team. These collaborations focus on strategic projects related to recruitment, employee retention, mentorship, and community building within the company.
Hash has led several notable internal initiatives. During Black History Month, she delivered a talk titled, “Authentic Leadership in the Black Community,” where she shared her personal story. She also organized and hosted a “Keepin’ it Real” session for employees of a company that Coinbase had recently acquired, creating a forum to candidly address questions and concerns about the employee experience and corporate culture.
