Yanis Berkani
Yanis Berkani is a cybersecurity engineer and blockchain developer based in Switzerland, best known as the co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Alphix, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol built on the Uniswap V4 automated market maker.[1]
Education
Berkani studied computer science in Switzerland, earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) between 2017 and 2020.[1] He continued at ETH Zürich, where he completed a Master's degree in Cyber Security Computer Science between 2020 and 2023.[1]
Career
Berkani's professional background spans web development, hackathon projects, and increasingly specialized blockchain engineering roles, culminating in the founding of his own protocol company.
Early Roles
His earliest reported experience was as a software engineer at Knowvative in Algeria from June to August 2018, where he worked within a team of ten and closely alongside four developers to build what he describes as the first online learning platform designed for the Algerian public, practicing web development with HTML and CSS on the start-up's website and application.[1] In April 2020 he participated as a web developer at LauzHack in Lausanne, where his team won the LauzHack AGAINST COVID-19 hackathon.[1] Between September 2020 and July 2021 he served as a founding partner at Atanto, a restaurants company based in Lausanne, Vaud, that was founded in 2021 and employed between 11 and 50 people.[1]
From February 2022 to December 2024, Berkani worked as a blockchain developer at Perspective, based in Zurich, Switzerland. At Perspective, Berkani was in charge of development tasks related to the APWine protocol and its architecture, working mainly with Solidity, JavaScript, web3, and the ethers library.[1]
In January 2025, Berkani co-founded Alphix, a software development company, where he serves as co-founder and CTO.[1]
Fables
In September 2026, Berkani and Carl Schmidt launched "Fables," which he described as a ve(3,3) exchange built on Uniswap v4 and live on Robinhood Chain.[1] The ve(3,3) model refers to a token-economic design combining vote-escrowed governance tokens with a game-theoretic incentive structure intended to align the interests of traders, liquidity providers, and token holders. [1]
Berkani's technical work centers on the Ethereum-based DeFi stack, with reported expertise in Solidity smart contracts, Uniswap and Uniswap V4, JIT liquidity, yield strategies, subgraph development, system deployment, security, and auditing, alongside general software engineering and web development.[1]
