Book of Meme

Darkfarms introduced Book of Meme as an experimental project combining meme culture, decentralized storage, a Solana-based memecoin and tools for creating and browsing memes. The project uses Arweave and IPFS as storage systems and proposed Bitcoin inscriptions as an additional form of permanent storage. ^[16]

The project’s stated token supply was 69,000,000,420 BOME. Its original allocation assigned 50% to the presale, 30% to liquidity pools and 20% to a community fund. The 24-hour presale did not have a fixed token price; participants sent SOL to a designated wallet and received BOME in proportion to their contributions. ^[16]

BOME reportedly reached a peak market capitalization of approximately $1.46 billion less than 48 hours after its launch. Its success helped popularize direct-to-wallet memecoin presales on Solana, although observers warned that this model exposed participants to substantial risks because sending funds did not guarantee that tokens would be delivered. ^{[1] [22]}

Later in March 2024, Darkfarms sold a one-of-one Bitcoin Ordinals inscription for 18,888,888 BOME, valued at approximately $275,000 at the time. The sale was followed by BOME-denominated auctions from several other digital artists. ^[1]

Interview

In an interview with NFT Now, DarkFarms shared some insights and reflections on the dizzying saga and how he hopes to channel the memetic energy moving forward.

He attributed his inspiration for the launch of $BOME to a deep need to immerse himself in the current meta-context, delving into shitcoins, decentralized social applications, and the evolving narrative surrounding NFTs. He stated that he wanted to create a space where everyone felt welcomed, without it mattering what profile picture they use or which blockchain they prefer.

On whether or not he had anticipated the success of his project. His response was modest and acknowledged the impact and challenges that social platforms had on BOME.

I must admit that I did not expect the success of the project. Platforms like X and Telegram have proven both rewarding and challenging, as the influx of information is often accompanied by misinformation and links to obvious scams and wallet drains.

Several artists followed suit and launched their own tokens in the months that followed and he advised and encouraged them to be innovative, challenge convention and forge new frontiers in the crypto art space.

He opined that the future of Web3 art should be fundamentally based on trust between collectors and artists. Further stating that the technological advancement in blockchain-based art. Should not erode the relationship between artists and art lovers.

It's not about burning or $BOME prices, it's about building trust between collectors and artists. Web3 has changed a lot of things, with a lot of fast transactions and transactions happening with the help of bots, but I think we might be losing something important - the relationship between people who make art and people who love art. As I said, not as a financial opinion or anything, this move may be dangerous, but it may also be worth taking.^[7]

Enriched with Death is a series of one-of-one works combining Pepe imagery with skulls, bats, medieval memento mori themes and other symbols associated with mortality. Works in the series include BATS Enriched with Death, Meme Order Enriched with Death, Hermetic 3.0 Enriched with Death and WHALE Enriched with Death. ^[19]
