Kevin Coutinho

Kevin Coutinho (born October 26, 1994) is an Indian-born entrepreneur and researcher, and the Founder of , a layer one protocol that allows developers to build once and access users and liquidity across other . He is also the founder of Rewalty, a blockchain-based loyalty and rewards platform in the hospitality sector, Humanbot, an IT and development firm, BlocksOne, a blockchain infrastructure initiative, and NLO, the Neural Liquidity Orchestrator AI system for liquidity management, and focuses on interoperability, decentralized ledger technology, and AI-driven applications.[5][2]

Early Life and Education

Coutinho was born in Silvassa, India, on October 26, 1994.[5]

Coutinho attended Savitribai Phule Pune University for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications from 2013 to 2015. Afterward, he attended Indira Gandhi National Open University for a Master's in Public Administration and graduated in 2017. He also attended The University of Western Australia for a Master's in Professional Accounting.[2]

In 2021, Coutinho was a Research Associate at the University of Western Australia in the Computer Science department focused on interoperability and building a layer one decentralized ledger and technology.[2]

Career

Kevin Coutinho began his career as an IT Consultant in 2018 at The Accounting Co. He later held executive roles at I Synergy Group Ltd (ASX: IS3) as Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, and Chief Technology Officer, and served as Chief Executive Officer at Ledger Labs and Managing Director at Synergy Labs Ltd during 2022–2023.[2][5]

Coutinho continues to lead several ventures as Founder of , Rewalty, a blockchain-based loyalty and rewards platform in the hospitality sector, Humanbot, an IT and development firm, BlocksOne, a blockchain infrastructure initiative, and NLO, the Neural Liquidity Orchestrator AI system for liquidity management, with NLO positioned as a venture focused on applications of AI and technology. He also serves as Vice President of the Business & Trade Association of Victoria Park in Western Australia.[2][5]

Layer One X

In August 2021, Kevin Coutinho founded and also serves as the Council President of the company. The project was officially announced on July 11, 2023. (L1X) is a that enables bridgeless connectivity between previously incompatible chains, allowing for the effective exchange of tokens, , and logic, fostering collaboration cross-chain.[1][2][6]

L1X's architecture is designed to address challenges of scalability, security, and interoperability. It can reportedly process up to 100,000 transactions per second and utilizes a Proof of X (PoX) / Proof-of-Participation-style consensus mechanism, which allows mobile devices and other everyday computing devices to participate as . The system also features a virtual machine optimized with Rust and eBPF technology, a Cluster-Based Architecture, and a "Direct Swap" function for lower-cost cross-chain exchanges.[5][2]

"We're setting the new industry standard," says Coutinho. " is designed to deliver seamless interoperability between various . In addition, our platform scales efficiently to handle an increasing volume of transactions, ensuring quick, reliable services."[3]

On how L1X came to be, Coutinho stated in an interview:

"The whole vision of L1X was due to the problem that we see in interoperability in the market right now and how we can fill that gap with L1X"[7]

According to Kevin, L1X aims to address the problem of interoperability between various technologies, making it easier for different decentralized ledger technologies to communicate and interact.[7]

From 2025 onward, the L1X ecosystem has expanded to include Quantum DeX, an AI-first decentralized exchange built on Layer One X that supports cross-chain swaps, token listings, and protocol-level liquidity loans, and L1X Play, a gaming platform that uses L1X’s low-latency infrastructure. The project’s strategy includes ecosystem expansion, filing patents related to AI and interoperability, and licensing its interoperability and AI infrastructure, including X-Talk-based components, to other .[8][9]

As part of a DeX-first liquidity strategy, the $L1X token is listed on decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap, , and , alongside additional centralized exchange listings.[8]

X-Talk

Launched in September 2023, X-Talk serves as 's interoperability framework and virtual machine designed for cross-chain communication. tackles interoperability challenges with X-Talk, a method that operates at the level, enabling direct connectivity between different chains. The framework facilitates functionalities such as cross-chain , asset borrowing, and . Unlike traditional bridges, which involve intermediaries and centralization risks, X-Talk is described by as aiming to provide a more secure and efficient approach to cross-chain asset and data transfers by reducing reliance on traditional bridges.[4][5]

Subsequent X-Talk upgrades have focused on multi-chain asset issuance and management, allowing projects to issue, manage, and tokenize assets across multiple networks from a single environment. X-Talk underpins L1X’s cross-chain swaps, multi-chain token launches, and the infrastructure used by emerging AI and gaming products such as Quantum DeX and L1X Play.[10][8][11][9]
