Prom
Prom is a modular zkEVM Layer 2 network built with Polygon CDK that focuses on multichain interoperability across both EVM and non-EVM blockchains, including ecosystems such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Bitcoin, and Solana.[1][2][7] Developed by Prometeus Labs, the project traces its origins to 2018, when the team began building Web3 infrastructure focused on NFTs and gaming.[7]
It uses zk-SNARK-based zkEVM rollup technology to batch transactions and post succinct proofs to a settlement layer, aiming to inherit base-layer security while reducing transaction fees and increasing throughput for applications.
Positioned as both a general-purpose scaling network and an economic infrastructure layer, Prom targets DeFi, GameFi, real-world asset (RWA) platforms, and an emerging AI Agent Economy focused on automated, machine-to-machine payments.[8]

Overview
Developed by Prometeus Labs, Prom is a modular zkEVM Layer 2 scaling solution built on top of existing Layer 1 blockchains using Polygon CDK.[1][2] It leverages zk-SNARK-based zero-knowledge proofs to batch transactions off-chain and submit succinct validity proofs to a settlement layer, enabling it to inherit the security of that layer while offering faster transaction processing and lower fees compared to executing the same activity directly on Layer 1.
Unlike Layer 2 networks that extend a single ecosystem, Prom is designed from the outset to connect multiple blockchains and support both asset and application interoperability across EVM and non-EVM environments such as Ethereum, BNB Chain, Bitcoin, and Solana.[2][7] Its architecture is positioned to support sectors including decentralized finance (DeFi), blockchain gaming (GameFi), real-world asset platforms, and AI-related use cases such as autonomous agents and programmable payments.[8]
History
Prom traces its origins to 2018, when Prometeus Labs began developing infrastructure and products connected to NFTs and gaming, setting the groundwork for a dedicated on-chain ecosystem.[7] Over time, the project evolved from this early focus into a broader effort to address scalability and fragmentation across multiple Layer 1 blockchains.
By 2025, Prom had publicly articulated its approach as a zkEVM Layer 2 and outlined its ambition to act as a multichain infrastructure layer, using zero-knowledge rollup technology and Polygon CDK to connect EVM-compatible and non-EVM chains.[2] In 2026, its narrative expanded further to emphasize infrastructure for the AI Agent Economy and machine-to-machine payments, positioning the network as a settlement and execution environment for autonomous agents interacting across different blockchain ecosystems.[8]
Over this period, project disclosures reported network growth to more than 2.5 million unique wallets and over 26 million on-chain transactions, supported by average block times under 6 seconds, as Prom sought adoption among DeFi, GameFi, RWA, and AI-oriented applications.[7][8]
Design and Mechanism
Prom uses a zkEVM rollup design based on zk-SNARKs to batch user transactions off-chain and generate succinct proofs that are periodically submitted to a settlement Layer 1, allowing it to verify state transitions without revealing underlying transaction data.[2] Built with Polygon CDK and Polygon Zero–style recursive proving, the network aims to process large volumes of transactions while keeping proof sizes and verification costs low, which is intended to reduce fees for users and developers.[1] This design allows Prom to inherit core security properties from its settlement layer while offloading execution to a high-throughput environment.
The network is intended to support low-cost, high-throughput activity suitable for high-frequency DeFi trading, gaming interactions, and automated agent behavior, including recurring or programmatic payments.[1][8] By combining a zkEVM execution layer with a multichain connectivity stack, Prom seeks to offer an environment where AI agents and other automated systems can interact with assets and applications deployed across different blockchains while settling their activity on a shared, verifiable rollup.
Network Utility
Users interact with the Prom network by submitting transactions that are executed within the zkEVM environment, benefiting from lower fees and faster confirmation times compared to many underlying Layer 1 chains.[1] Developers can deploy smart contracts and decentralized applications on Prom that tap into its multichain connectivity, enabling cross-chain operations such as asset transfers or messaging between applications anchored to different blockchains.[2] As the inter-chain communication protocol and related tooling mature, the network is intended to support more complex workflows in which users and automated agents interact with DeFi, gaming, RWA, and AI-related services across multiple ecosystems through a single execution layer.[7]
Governance
Prom employs a DAO-style governance framework in which PROM holders can participate directly in on-chain decision-making or delegate their voting power to designated delegates.[1] Governance proposals can cover areas such as protocol upgrades, parameter changes, and ecosystem initiatives, with voting outcomes implemented through transparent smart contract mechanisms. In addition to token holder governance, Prom’s structure includes a validator or Security Council layer that acts as a second line of review, helping to assess proposals and maintain the integrity and security of the network before changes are finalized on-chain.[1]
Tokenomics and Distribution
PROM is the native token of the Prom network and underpins economic activity across the ecosystem.[3] It is used to pay transaction fees on the zkEVM Layer 2, participate in governance processes, and access various network services and incentives designed for validators, developers, and community contributors.[1][3] These roles position PROM as both a utility token for using the network and a coordination asset for stakeholders involved in its development and operation.
According to market data providers, there are around 18.25 million PROM tokens in circulation out of a total and maximum supply of 19.25 million tokens, indicating that the circulating supply is close to the fully diluted amount as of September 2026.[3] PROM is listed and traded on multiple centralized cryptocurrency exchanges, which facilitates access for users and participants who wish to pay for network usage, engage in governance, or contribute to the ecosystem’s growth.[3]
