Floki
Floki is a cryptocurrency that started as a memecoin based on Elon Musk’s dog, gradually becoming a full web3 ecosystem encompassing decentralized finance, NFTs, and the metaverse.[2][1] The ecosystem is built around the FLOKI utility token, a multi-chain asset on Ethereum and BNB Chain that powers products such as the Valhalla NFT metaverse game, the FlokiFi DeFi suite, the Floki Trading Bot, the University of Floki education platform, the TokenFi tokenization protocol, staking, NFT collections, and commerce and payments tools.[1][15]

History
The origin of the Floki Inu coin can be traced back to June 2021, following Elon Musk's tweet about naming his Shiba Inu pet "Floki." Initially, the project emerged as a dog-themed meme coin, similar to Dogecoin, and was referred to as Floki Inu. However, as the project evolved beyond a meme coin and gained significance, the team decided to rebrand it as "Floki" and position it as a multi-chain ecosystem token with gaming, DeFi, education, and NFT utilities.[2][1]
In 2025, Floki advanced this utility-focused roadmap by launching its Valhalla play-to-earn MMORPG on the opBNB mainnet on June 30, 2025, alongside an esports partnership with Method to support content and events around the game.[18][15] Over the same period, the project expanded its prepaid and debit card program to cover 31 European countries and promoted a Telegram-based trading bot, a staking program that lets FLOKI holders lock tokens to earn TOKEN, and identity products such as FlokiHub and .floki domains as part of a broader push toward fee-generating utilities tied to FLOKI buybacks, burns, and treasury funding.[17][1][15][16]
Overview
The Floki ecosystem is described as a community-powered suite of products built around the FLOKI utility token, spanning GameFi, DeFi, education, tokenization, NFTs, and payments.[1][15] Key components include Valhalla, an NFT metaverse game; FlokiFi, a DeFi product suite anchored by FlokiFi Locker; the Floki Trading Bot; the University of Floki crypto education platform; the TokenFi tokenization protocol; a staking program; and the FlokiPlaces NFT and merchandise marketplace.[1] The ecosystem also features NFT collections with in-game and protocol benefits, a prepaid and debit card program for spending crypto in 31 European countries, FlokiHub and .floki domains for on-chain identity, and a Telegram-based trading bot that charges fees on each trade, with project materials indicating that protocol and top-up fees from utilities such as FlokiFi Locker, the trading bot, and the debit card help fund the treasury and are partially routed into FLOKI buyback-and-burn mechanisms.[15][17][1][16][18]
Design and Mechanism
The Floki ecosystem is structured as a set of distinct products that integrate the FLOKI token in different ways, including play-to-earn rewards, protocol fee buy-and-burn loops, staking incentives, and access benefits.[1][16] These products operate across multiple EVM-compatible blockchains, with FLOKI functioning as the common utility and governance asset whose supply dynamics are influenced by bridging, transaction taxes, and product-level fee routing.
Valhalla NFT Metaverse Game
Valhalla is an NFT metaverse game described as Floki’s flagship utility product and a blockchain game featuring on-chain interactions, upgradeable NFTs, and a play-to-earn economy powered by the FLOKI token.[3][15] Players can earn FLOKI tokens through gameplay and must hold FLOKI in their wallets to unlock certain playable characters and features, creating a direct link between in-game activity and token demand.[3][16] The game includes systems such as gardening, in-game characters, a battle system, in-game ships, and an items system, and it offers a dedicated Chinese version with localized content, updated character models, and Mandarin-language support to target the large gaming audience in China.[3][15][18]
FlokiFi DeFi Ecosystem
FlokiFi is the umbrella name for a suite of decentralized finance products under the Floki brand, with its main product being FlokiFi Locker, a protocol for locking and vesting LP tokens, fungible tokens, NFTs, and ERC‑1155 multi-tokens.[4][5] FlokiFi Locker offers batch lock functionality that allows users to lock multiple assets in a single transaction and supports a wide range of EVM-compatible blockchains, giving projects flexibility over lock durations and asset types while using audited contracts.[5][15]
FlokiFi’s design includes a revenue model where protocol fees from FlokiFi Locker are split between automatic FLOKI buy-and-burns and the Floki treasury, with project materials describing 25% of fees as allocated to buying and burning FLOKI and 75% going to the treasury.[15][16] This links usage of the DeFi products to a deflationary pressure on the FLOKI supply and to treasury funding that can be directed by governance.
University of Floki Crypto Education Platform
University of Floki aims to fill the crypto education gap for potential users while creating awareness of the Floki ecosystem. It uses a blend of synchronous live classes and asynchronous materials to make crypto education accessible to a broad audience and has run beta courses with live virtual classroom sessions.[6][15] The FLOKI token is intended to serve as the primary utility token within University of Floki, with most educational content freely accessible but certain functions and advanced features requiring FLOKI payments, positioning education as both an onboarding tool and a token use case.[6]
FlokiPlaces Marketplace and NFT Ecosystem
FlokiPlaces is conceived as an NFT and merchandise marketplace facilitating the buying and selling of NFTs and digital products, aiming to position FLOKI as a payment option alongside cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Dogecoin and as an alternative to fiat currencies.[2][1] Within the broader ecosystem, NFT collections such as Flokitars, Diamond Hands (Genesis), Gemstones, and charity NFTs tied to events like the 2023 Turkey earthquake provide holders with benefits that can include in-game advantages in Valhalla, reduced fees or special access in Floki products, early access to the Floki debit card, and other ecosystem perks.[15]
Floki also supports commerce and payments through its prepaid and debit card program, which allows users in 31 European countries to spend supported cryptocurrencies at merchants that accept Visa or Mastercard, with no transaction or foreign-exchange fees and a top-up fee structure.[17][15] Project materials state that a portion of card-related top-up fees (such as 1%) is allocated to buying and burning FLOKI, connecting off-chain spending activity to on-chain token deflation.[16]
TokenFi and Staking
TokenFi is a platform created by the Floki team to simplify asset tokenization and token launches without requiring extensive coding experience, enabling users to launch crypto tokens and tokenize assets across multiple networks.[8][1] The platform initially launched on Ethereum, BNB Chain, opBNB, Base, and Arbitrum, reflecting Floki’s multi-chain design.[8] Its native currency, TOKEN, has a total supply of 10 billion tokens split evenly between Ethereum and BNB Chain, and is positioned as a way to extend FLOKI’s ecosystem by linking staking rewards and cross-product utility.[9]
FLOKI holders can stake their tokens through an official staking program to earn TOKEN as a reward, with longer lock-up periods yielding higher TOKEN distributions and early-unstake penalties that burn a percentage of the staked FLOKI.[9][16] In February 2024, Floki and TokenFi were featured on Chinese national television channels, with project announcements claiming a combined audience reach of over 340 million people for the coverage.[12]
Tokenomics and Distribution
The $FLOKI token is a multi-chain cryptocurrency that operates on both the Ethereum and BNB Chain blockchains, following the ERC-20 and BEP‑20 standards and allowing holders to bridge tokens between chains via an atomic-swap-style bridge.[2][7] Floki’s documentation describes FLOKI as launched with a total supply of 10 trillion tokens on Ethereum and a corresponding 10 trillion on BNB Chain, with cross-chain accounting treating supply in an aggregated way across bridges and burns, and framing the effective supply as fixed at 10 trillion with deflation driven by buyback-and-burn mechanisms rather than ongoing emissions.[7][16]
Token Design, Fees, and Burns
Originally launched on the Ethereum blockchain with a total supply of 10 trillion tokens, FLOKI was later launched on the BNB Chain network with a mirrored supply to leverage BNB Chain’s user base and foster growth within the Floki ecosystem, with the bridge designed to maintain a 1:1 relationship between FLOKI on each chain through an ETH–BSC atomic swap bridge.[7] Documentation and third-party analysis describe an effective combined circulating supply of around 9.3 trillion FLOKI across chains after accounting for burns and out-of-circulation balances, with the project presenting the supply as “perpetually deflationary” due to buy-and-burn pathways.[7][16]
FLOKI’s token contract is wired to a tax handler and a treasury handler, enabling on-chain control over transaction taxes and the routing of taxed tokens.[16] Floki’s materials describe a transaction tax on decentralized-exchange buys and sells, with official documents and analysis citing a 0.3% buy/sell tax on DEX trades and no tax on ordinary wallet-to-wallet transfers, and earlier documentation having referenced a higher 3% rate.[2][16] In addition to this tax, several ecosystem products such as FlokiFi Locker, the Floki Trading Bot, the prepaid/debit card, and the staking program route a portion of their fees into buying and burning FLOKI or into the treasury, reinforcing the deflationary design.[15][16]
On February 29, 2024, the Floki team put forward a proposal to burn 190,918,585,431.84 FLOKI tokens, described as being worth around $11 million at the time, in order to mitigate bridge-related security risks and ensure that these tokens could never enter circulation.[14] The proposal framed the burn as a step toward long-term security and supply reduction for the project.[14] On December 27, 2024, the Floki DAO unanimously approved using 16,310,285,772.6 FLOKI tokens from the community buyback wallet to provide liquidity for a regulated FLOKI exchange-traded product (ETP) on the SIX Swiss Exchange, with the plan that a portion of these tokens would back the ETP and the remainder would be permanently burned to reduce supply.[17]
Governance
Floki describes itself as a community-powered ecosystem with governance organized through the Floki DAO, which can propose and vote on key decisions such as treasury deployments, liquidity allocations, and parameter changes.[1] On December 27, 2024, the Floki DAO unanimously approved allocating 16,310,285,772.6 FLOKI tokens from the community buyback wallet to provide liquidity for the creation of a regulated FLOKI ETP on the SIX Swiss Exchange, illustrating its role in directing treasury resources.[17]
On-chain, the FLOKI token contract supports delegation and vote checkpointing functions typical of token-weighted governance systems, and is wired to admin-updatable tax and treasury handler contracts that can adjust transaction tax rates and routing.[16] Treasury assets are held in multisig wallets, with documentation indicating that multiple signatures are required for each transaction, so that while the DAO sets policy through votes, execution of decisions and control over key parameters remains concentrated in multisig signers and core administrators.[16][1]
Partnerships
On February 27, 2024, the Floki team announced that DWF Labs, a digital asset market maker and multi-stage Web3 investment firm, would acquire $10,000,000 worth of FLOKI tokens from the Floki treasury over a two-year period to support ecosystem development and marketing.[10] Floki first announced a partnership with DWF Labs in May 2023, when DWF Labs purchased $5 million worth of FLOKI tokens to back the project’s growth plans.[11]
Floki has pursued high-visibility sports and esports partnerships tied to its ecosystem products. The project announced a sponsorship deal with Italian football club SSC Napoli and other sports marketing arrangements as part of its strategy to promote the FLOKI brand, Valhalla, and related utilities.[15] In 2025, Floki partnered with esports organization Method to coincide with the June 30, 2025 launch of Valhalla on the opBNB mainnet, with Method creating content, guides, and event programming around the game.[18] TokenFi became title sponsor of the West Indies tour of Ireland in May and June 2025, and Valhalla joined India’s Baroda Premier League as an official partner in June 2025, using cricket partnerships to raise awareness of both TokenFi and Valhalla.[18]
Regulation
On January 26, 2024, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong placed the Floki and TokenFi staking program on its list of suspicious investment products.[13] In response, Floki announced on January 29, 2024 that it had implemented mitigation measures, including prominent warnings on its staking websites to alert Hong Kong users that they were not eligible to participate, practical steps to geo-restrict users from Hong Kong, and a pause of an offline marketing campaign in Hong Kong that had been scheduled to launch in mid-December 2023.[13]
In 2025, trade publications reported that Floki had filed a MiCA-compliant crypto-asset white paper that was registered with a European national competent authority and recorded with the European Securities and Markets Authority, positioning FLOKI among early projects using the MiCA disclosure framework in the European Union.[18] On November 21, during a 2024 meeting of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Global Markets Advisory Committee, the CFTC acknowledged FLOKI as a utility token in regulatory discussions that referenced it alongside cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Avalanche.[17]
Regulated FLOKI exchange-traded products were also introduced in Europe in 2025. Following the Floki DAO’s December 2024 vote to allocate more than 16 billion FLOKI tokens as on-chain liquidity for an ETP, a FLOKI ETP was scheduled to launch on the SIX Swiss Exchange, Switzerland’s largest stock exchange.[17] Later in 2025, the Valour Floki SEK ETP launched on Sweden’s Spotlight Stock Market, giving investors regulated exchange access to FLOKI exposure and making Floki one of the few meme tokens with a European ETP listing and the first BNB Chain project besides BNB itself to obtain such a listing.[19]
