Leonard Dorlöchter is a German entrepreneur and Web3 executive known as the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of peaq, a Layer-1 blockchain network designed for the Economy of Things (EoT). He is recognized for his work at the intersection of business and engineering, focusing on developing decentralized infrastructure for vehicles, robots, and devices.
Dorlöchter studied Business Informatics (Bachelor of Applied Science) at the Technical University of Berlin, 2016–2019.
Leonard Dorlöchter joined the founding team of Advanced Blockchain AG in Berlin in 2017, an end-to-end Blockchain-as-a-Service company. Under this team's work, the company developed the "peaq" product by combining blockchain technology with DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) technology, applying it to IoT, automotive, telecommunications, and machine-industry clients including DMG MORI. Advanced Blockchain AG has been described in sources as the first blockchain company listed on the German (Xetra) stock exchange.
Dorlöchter served as Head of Product at Advanced Blockchain AG from 2017 to 2020; during this period the management buyout that created EoT Labs and peaq was later completed. He is the Co-Founder of peaq, where he serves as Chief Product Officer, and was involved with the project during its independence in 2020. He also co-founded EoT Labs and serves as Chief Product Officer of EoT Labs. He was a founding team member of nakamo.to.
Dorlöchter has written articles for CoinDesk and Blockworks. One CoinDesk piece by Dorlöchter discussed data quality and the risk of "spoofing" in DePIN networks. In a Web3 People interview (Medium), he discussed the peaq Foundation's Ecosystem Grant Program, describing its support for teams building EoT-related dApps and DePINs; he noted the program was backed by investors including Fundamental Labs, Cypher Capital, and HashKey Capital, and that grants could be up to $50,000.
In his author bios on Blockworks and CoinDesk, Dorlöchter described himself as having "built multiple organizations, teams, and products during his five years in the blockchain space" and as someone who "operates at the intersection between business and engineering." These phrases are presented here as his self-described author bio text.
Dorlöchter's work is centered on the vision of creating a "human-centric Machine Economy" where smart infrastructure and automated devices are owned by and benefit the public, rather than being controlled by a small number of large corporations. He aims to make Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) suitable for mass adoption by focusing on real-world applications that generate tangible value. A core tenet of his philosophy is the transition from the Internet of Things (IoT) to the Economy of Things (EoT). This is achieved by providing machines, vehicles, and robots with sovereign digital identities, access control, and payment capabilities on a Web3 framework, allowing them to operate and transact autonomously.
